At SCIVOLVE, we are committed to ensuring that all published research meets the highest standards of quality, integrity, and academic rigor. Our peer review process is a cornerstone of this commitment, designed to provide constructive feedback, uphold scientific excellence, and enhance the credibility of the research we publish.
Authors submit their manuscripts through SCIVOLVE’s online submission system. Upon submission, each manuscript is assigned to a relevant journal based on its scope and subject matter.
The manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the journal’s editorial team to ensure that it meets the basic criteria for publication. This includes checking for adherence to submission guidelines, relevance to the journal’s scope, and originality of the research. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors with recommendations for revision or rejected outright.
Once the manuscript passes the initial screening, it is assigned to two or more independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their subject matter expertise, academic credentials, and prior experience in peer review. SCIVOLVE’s editorial team ensures that selected reviewers have no conflicts of interest with the authors or the content of the manuscript.
SCIVOLVE employs a double-blind peer review process, where both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process. This approach helps eliminate bias and ensures that the manuscript is judged solely on its academic merit.
Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on several key criteria, including:
Originality: Does the manuscript present novel findings or approaches that contribute significantly to the field?
Scientific Rigor: Are the research methods sound, and are the data and analysis robust and reliable?
Clarity and Presentation: Is the manuscript well-organized, and are the arguments clearly articulated?
Relevance: Is the research relevant to the journal’s audience, and does it address important questions in the field?
Ethical Considerations: Does the research adhere to ethical guidelines, including appropriate approvals, consent, and conflict of interest disclosure?
Reviewers provide a detailed report on the manuscript, including constructive feedback, suggestions for improvement, and a recommendation for the manuscript’s disposition (accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject). Reviewers may also comment on specific sections of the manuscript, such as the abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references.
SCIVOLVE places a strong emphasis on timely reviews. Reviewers are expected to complete their evaluations within a set timeframe, typically 2-4 weeks, to ensure a swift and efficient review process. Authors are kept informed of the review progress through the journal editorial team.
Once the reviews are received, the journal’s editorial team evaluates the feedback and recommendations provided by the reviewers. If there is significant disagreement between reviewers, the editor may seek additional reviews or mediate to reach a consensus.
Based on the reviewers’ reports and the editorial assessment, the editor makes a final decision on the manuscript. The possible outcomes are:
Accept: The manuscript is accepted as is or with minor revisions.
Minor Revision: The manuscript requires minor changes before it can be accepted.
Major Revision: The manuscript needs significant revisions and will undergo another round of review.
Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in its current form.
The decision, along with detailed feedback from the reviewers, is communicated to the authors through the online submission system.
Authors who are invited to revise their manuscript are given a specified timeframe to address the reviewers’ comments and make the necessary changes. Authors are required to submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response letter outlining how they have addressed each reviewer’s comments.
If the manuscript undergoes major revisions, it may be sent back to the original reviewers (or new reviewers) for re-evaluation. The review process will then proceed as described above.
SCIVOLVE takes allegations of misconduct seriously, including data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and unethical research practices. If misconduct is suspected, SCIVOLVE will conduct a thorough investigation following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and take appropriate action, which may include retraction of the published work.
After the revisions are satisfactorily addressed, the manuscript is given a final evaluation by the editorial team. If the manuscript meets all the criteria, it is accepted for publication. Authors are notified of the final decision, and the manuscript proceeds to the production stage.
The accepted manuscript is copyedited, formatted, and typeset for publication. Authors are provided with page proofs to review and approve before the final publication. The manuscript is then published online in the relevant SCIVOLVE journal and made available as an open access article.
SCIVOLVE encourages post-publication peer review and engagement with the published research. Authors and readers can submit comments, corrections, or updates to published articles, which will be evaluated by the editorial team and published as appropriate.
If significant errors or issues are identified after publication, SCIVOLVE will issue corrections, retractions, or updates as necessary to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scientific record.
